About us

My name is Carmen Indrei and I am a qualified English teacher from Romania. I came over to the UK in February 2010 wanting to see and learn more about the country and language that I was teaching my students.

I am very fond of children. While I was a teacher I found each child different, special and enjoyed the challenges inherent in teaching all of them. I taught with enthusiasm and found all the energy I needed being with my students.

Apart from being a teacher I was also a form master. In this role I learnt how to liaise with parents, handle challenging situations and find solutions so that everybody could be happy.

All activities related to my profession (teaching) and the contact with my students were my source of energy, my refreshment. Contrary to other people who do feel tired working I found energy doing what I loved.

Knowing I was capable of doing even more for children, parents and also for myself, I moved to the UK. I came to London where I had the chance to live with a lovely family, help them with their children and simultaneously do research related to my plan.

I wanted to live with a family because I knew this would help me get all the information I needed to start my business: observing how the system works and talking to other mums really helped me towards starting my own agency (luckily the family I was living with had a very busy social life so lots of visits around, the mother was really kind and told me all about what families expect from candidates and so on).

After all my enquiries, I realised what sort of agency I wanted and this became my mission statement: 'An agency where families and candidates work together to provide a happy and safe environment, where all are collaborating and freely giving feedback'.

So the final step was taken. After one year the big moment arrived and on 17th February 2011 'Carel Au-Pair and Nanny Agency Ltd' was established.

My aim is to make a real difference within the childcare agency market: all candidates are trained; O provide support, mediation and counselling for all the families and candidates, depending on their needs; and I have many other plans I am working on...
